Free and impartial recycling advisor for SMEs in the East of England

Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the East of England now have the benefit of their own recycling adviser, Sara Mellor, which is run by WRAP’s (Waste & Resources Action Programme) Recycle at Work Advisory Programme.

Based in Cambridge, Sara is putting over 10 years of recycling experience to good use by providing one-to-one support and free and impartial advice to local SMEs throughout the East of England region. Sara is able to provide advice on a wide range of recycling issues – from recommending convenient local recycling services, to developing in-house recycling schemes, advising what can be recycled and providing staff training to implement your plan.

Sara says: “The aim is to be a one-stop shop for SMEs who want to start recycling at work or recycle more. We are developing an online searchable database of recycling service providers and providing support to help SMEs through the entire process. We are also working with local recycling service providers to provide additional services in new areas, making recycling even easier and more convenient.”

Sarah Downes, WRAP’s Manager English Regions, says: “Many SMEs want to recycle their waste but find it difficult because they think it is too costly and time consuming and they lack information and resource to get started – which means good recyclable materials are going to landfill. Recycle at Work Advisers offer practical support to SMEs to increase and improve recycling in their business, as well as raising awareness of the environmental and cost benefits.”

For further information or advice on recycling at work, contact Sara Mellor on 01223 484598 or sara.mellor@wrap.org.uk.
