There are an increasingly number of funding opportunities aimed at helping communities and individuals mprove their environmental credentials. This page outlines the schemes that we are aware of, if you know of any please let us know.
Individual Households
If you're a householder interested in generating your own heat or electricity, you can apply online for a grant on this site.
You can apply for up to £2,500 per property towards the cost of microgeneration technologies
The Warm Front Scheme provides a package of insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £3,500 (or £6,000 where oil, low carbon or renewable technologies are recommended).
The scheme provides free energy efficiency goods to households for DIY installation.
Greener Homes Free Interest Loans
Greener Homes interest free loans are available from Ipswich & Suffolk Credit Union (ISCU) for energy saving goods and for renewable energy installations such as solar water heating, solar photovoltaics for generating electricity and heat pumps.
Free Cavity Wall and Loft Installation
A scheme that allows those who over 70 or receive one of the agreed benefits to receive free cavity wall and/or loft insulation (conditions apply):
Community Groups
Low Carbon Building Programme Phase 2
This programme offers grants of up to 50% of the cost of installation (to the maximum cost of £200,000) of solar energy, biomass, ground and air source heat pumps and wind turbines
SEAL are offering a chance for community groups to borrow an energy monitor to track their energy usage
Dedham Vale Sustainable Development Fund
The fund will provide up to 75% of the total costs of projects that are of benefit to the environment, economy, society within Suffolk's countryside.
CSEP – Community Sustainable Energy Programme
An open-grants programme that funds community-based organisations to install microgeneration technologies and also provides project development grants to help communities to establish if microgeneration and energy efficiency installation is right for them.
The fund is to support their communities to reduce their carbon footprint
Woodfuel East Biomass Woodchip Boiler Grant
Woodfuel East offers a grant of up to 40% of the cost of installing a woodchip biomass boiler
The Broads Authority Sustainable Development Fund
A fund used to support projects that promote sustainable development in the Broads
Scottish Power Green Energy Trust
The Scottish Power Green Energy Trust supports small scale community based environmental and educational renewable energy projects
A fund that grants of up to £20,000 to community groups and not for profit organisations who wish to consider and implement sustainable energy projects in their buildings. The project must benefit specific community groups namely; young people, elderly and people in fuel poverty.
Funding is provided for the installation of small scale renewable energy technology or for feasibility studies.
PURE offers grants to UK schools and charities to install solar panels, wind turbines and other zero/low carbon energy technologies.
The foundation offers grants of up to £20,000 to organisations or community groups in Suffolk on a wide range of community issues and initiatives.
Suffolk Coast and Heaths Sustainable Development Fund
Suffolk Coast and Heaths runs a fund that supports products which enhances and or/benefits the AONB
Suffolk County Council Corporate Regeneration Fund
The Corporate Regeneration Fund (CRF) provides a match funding pool of capital funds to support organisations throughout Suffolk and draw in a range of additional external grants. Projects should provide benefit to the people of Suffolk through community, economic or environmental regeneration or a combination thereof.
