Suffolk Greener Homes Insulation 2012

This scheme is now closed to new applicants.
Thank you for your interest in Warm As Toast.
Due to a cut in government grant funding, the 'Warm As Toast' free insulation offer has now closed. To those residents who sadly missed out on this offer, we sympathise with your situation and apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this may have caused. Whilst an end to the funding was expected, neither we, nor the installers working under the scheme, anticipated that it would be so suddenly withdrawn.
The good news is that over 1,000 Suffolk homes have received loft or cavity wall insulation through this scheme. Estimated annual fuel savings across Suffolk as a result of this scheme, are £175,000 and the estimated annual CO2 saving is 706 tonnes. On top of this, over £15,000 has been raised for Suffolk schools, charities and community groups who assisted in publicising the scheme.
Even if you did miss out on this scheme, it is still important to get your home properly insulated with the recommended 12 inches (30cm) of loft insulation. According to figures from the Energy Saving Trust, cavity wall insulation can typically reduce fuel bills by £135 per year, whilst loft insulation typically can reduce bills by £175 per year. Savings by installing solid wall insulation can be as much as £460 per year.
Other than paying for insulation outright, you may wish to consider the following options to fund your home insulation:
1. Take out a SEAL (Suffolk Energy Action Link) interest free loan.
2. Receive a free Green Deal Pioneer Places Assessment and have the option of paying for all/part of the insulation using a Green Deal loan, where the savings per month on your energy bill should outweigh the cost of the insulation.
If you are worried about your heating bills and are struggling to adequately heat your home, then the Suffolk Warm Homes Healthy People project may be able to help.
