Groundwork

Groundwork East of England's Suffolk Business Advisor service helps Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Suffolk reduce their carbon footprint, cut business costs and enhance reputation. The service is a result of Groundwork East of England working with the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership and Suffolk Coastal District Council. In 2009 the service supported 78 SMEs and identified the potential for these businesses to save over 1,700 tonnes of carbon by implementing the energy saving actions recommended by our advisors.

This service itself offers businesses an in depth on site energy assessment followed by a detailed tailored Energy Report and Action Plan and follow up support to help implement the recommendations. Feedback from the service beneficiaries has detailed many actions that have been implemented as a result of our visits and reports. Some examples include, replacing and upgrading lights, upgrading boilers, changing waste collections to incorporate recycling, reducing fossil fuel consumption and successful staff engagement.
