The Creating the Greenest County marquee was a success at Suffolk Show, with a visit from the Duke of Kent and Suffolk County Council waste communications team winning a reserve award for the best non-agricultural stand or feature promoting a theme or aspect in a unique or enterprising manner.
Eleven different organisations joined with the Creating the Greenest County team to showcase ways to be green and save money at the same time. The marquee featured a diverse range of exhibits including a biomass boiler, a chance to ride an electric bike and practical ways for households to reduce their energy consumption. Over 700 people wrote on leaves what they would do to help Suffolk to become the greenest county for the pledge tree.
Launch of a diocese environmental policy
St Edmundsbury and Ipswich diocese launched their first environmental policy inside the marquee, with Bishop Nigel Stock pledging that they will work towards achieving their aim and BBC Radio Suffolk joined in the fun, launching their Don't be a Tosser car stickers.
