Creating a sustainable Olympics in 2012

The urban landscape across east London and beyond is already undergoing a dramatic transformation as a result of London winning the opportunity to host the next Olympic Games in 2012. But to ensure that sustainability at the heart of this vast regeneration programme, an independent commission has been established to monitor every aspect, from planning, to staging and right through to the legacy phase.

In this keynote interview, Shaun McCarthy, chair of the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012, gives us an insight into how he’s trying to encourage industry to adjust its practices in light of climate change, and paints a picture of how he hopes the UK will continue to benefit from the Games, even after the closing ceremony.
