Beaumont Community Primary School wins DfES Teaching Award for Sustainable Schools.

Friday 06 July 2007

Congratulations to Beaumont Community Primary School who have received a distinction in the Eastern Region from the DfES for their excellent work promoting sustainability within the curriculum. Whilst the school has a number of environmentally friendly features in the design and build (including a wind turbine), this award was more about learning and teaching - and the children's knowledge, understanding and involvement.

The assessors were particularly looking for these aspects when they visited the school. Approximately 6,000 schools were nominated nation-wide, with only 16 schools being awarded distinctions as well as the 12 regional winners.

This builds on past recognition for their efforts, including the prestigious top prize in the 2006 National Energy Efficiency Awards run by UK CEED.
