Your Local Glass Bank needs You!

There are over 1000 glass banks across Suffolk at over 500 different sites, not including Recycling Centres and supermarkets, so there is bound to be one near to where you live. And did you know you can leave metal tops and lids on for recycling too? If possible, please separate your clear and coloured glass as this helps the recycling process.

We recycle 70% of our glass in Suffolk but we could still do a little bit more to give glass bottles and jars a new lease of life! Glass bottles and jars can be recycled endlessly without any loss of quality, so it doesn’t make sense to let this valuable resource go to waste.

Most glass sent for recycling is made into new bottles and jars, or it could be used to make fibreglass, tiles, flooring and road infrastructure.

Did you know?

Ever wondered how glass bottles and jars are recycled?

Please don’t put window glass, light bulbs, reading glasses, glass cooking dishes in a glass bank but they can be recycled at any Suffolk Recycling Centre.

Pyrex items cannot be recycled but you can donate unwanted items to charity shops.
