Garden Waste

Recycle:  You can recycle garden waste in your kerbside compost bin or at any Suffolk Household Waste Recycling Centre in the green container.

Most borough/ district councils will only accept windfall fruit and vegetables (from the garden, not kitchen) in the kerbside compost bin. Ipswich will also accept fruit and vegetables peelings and Suffolk Coastal will accept full food.

Branches going into the kerbside compost bin must be a maximum of 6cm in diameter. If they are any larger please take them to any Suffolk Household Recycling Centre and put them in green container.

Home Compost: All garden waste can be placed in a home composting bin.

Japanese Knotweed and Ragwort require special handling and should not be placed in your kerbside or home composting bin. (See the separate A - Z entries for these weeds to find out more information.)
