Claydon Give and Take Day Sat 22nd April

Claydon Give and Take Day Sat 22nd April

Time for a Spring Clean? If you've been having a sort out of cupboards, sheds & garages, why not donate items that you no longer need to the Claydon Community Give and Take Day on Saturday 22nd April – or simply come along and take something away for free!

We’re encouraging people to bring along their good quality unwanted household items and give them away for someone else to enjoy - and maybe even find something you want instead, at our event at the Claydon and Barham Community Centre in Church Lane, Claydon (IP6 0EG).

You can bring a whole range of things - small electrical items (such as kettles, vacuum cleaners, TVs, radios, irons and tools), furniture (with attached fire label if upholstered), bicycles, clean textiles (such as clothes, shoes and accessories - but not pillows, cushions, duvets or carpets), books, toys, dvds, complete board games, bicycles and bicycle parts.

All items need to be in good reusable condition. All electrical items will be PAT safety tested before being placed out for reuse.

The event has been organised by Claydon High School PTA, Claydon Community Centre with support from Mid Suffolk District Council and the Suffolk Waste Partnership. It aims to help prevent items being thrown away in the first place to reduce the amount we end up sending to the Energy from Waste site every year. It also provides an opportunity to pick something you need or want up for free and without needing to buy it new and gives a chance for your unwanted items to find a new home.

The event is being supported by the Benjamin Foundation charity, who will be carrying out PAT testing to ensure the safety of any electrical items donated. Anything that hasn’t found a new owner by the end of the day will be given to the Benjamin Foundation for use at their Foxhall Reuse Shop.

The Give and Take Day is taking place at the Claydon & Barham Community Centre, Church Lane, Claydon, IP6 0EG. Entry is free and refreshments are available to buy at the Community Centre cafe. There is plenty of free parking in Claydon High School car park next door to the Community Centre.
