The commitment of schools across the county is demonstrated by the fact that over 100 schools are registered with the Eco-schools programme, an international scheme drawing together a range of environmental actions, from energy saving to greening the school grounds. The Greenest School award supports and celebrates environmental work already taking place in Suffolk schools, particularly the Eco-schools programme. The awards have been based on the ‘doorways’ to sustainability developed by the DCSF’s National Framework for Sustainable Schools. For more details, please refer to the website at www.teachernet.gov.uk/sustainableschools/framework.
The 2008 awards have now closed for entries, and winners will be announced at the Business and Environment conference at Adastral Park on February 12th. The next round of awards will open for entries later this year, and all details will be on this website.
