How a greener approach to travel can help our pockets, health, way of life and prospects for the future

By showing concern for the cyclist, a town council can achieve reduced congestion, fewer car parking problems and a very visible show of practical regard for the environment. The whole scene is more attractive: the cycle representing fresh air, healthy living and a blow at global warming.

The electrocycle takes the effort out of pedalling. When anno domini gets at the knees and days in the countryside on a bicycle no more than a happy memory, how satisfying to rediscover the pleasure thanks to power-on-demand at the pedals - there’s a sense of rejuvenation!

The growing interest in electric bicycles will lead to networks of what the French call pistes cyclables. There will be local competitions for the council having the prettiest piste. Designers will create scenic rides where to ride is very heaven.

At the Eden Project in Cornwall, manufacturers of low-carbon-emission vehicles recently attended The Sexy Green Car Show. LEV was an exhibitor, demonstrating its non-carbon-emission alternative to the car, the electrocycle.

To promote a swing from reliance on the car for the commute to work, the government introduced The Cycle to Work Transport Scheme. Through tax concessions, it enables the employer to buy a bicycle, at a very favourable price, for each participating employee, to whom it is leased. Fully sustainable transport can be achieved through use of wind turbine and solar panel recharging units.
