16/05/2025 | 8:30pm-10:30pm | SSSI Sutton Heath
Join us for a walk across the heathland forming part of SSSI Sutton Heath, listening out for the distinctive churring call of the nightjar.
Our guide, Chris Ryde, the Countryside Officer for East Suffolk Services Ltd who manage part of the SSSI, will tell us about this unique bird and the importance of active conservation of the special mosaic habitat of the lowland heath upon which nightjars and many other specialised species depend.
Attendees will need to be able to cover on foot approximately 2 km across uneven ground after dusk. Numbers limited so advance booking is essential (priority attendance will be given to members of the Greenprint Forum).
This event, organised by the Greenprint Forum, is a great opportunity for us to learn more about this special bird and its habitat. Nightjar-walk-flyer.pdf
