This Summer will see Suffolk’s first Youth Climate Conference.
West Suffolk College, Bury St. Edmunds
5th July 2023
9:30 – 14:30
The event is being organised by the team behind Creating The Greenest County, in partnership with the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership and Suffolk County Council.
The intention is to bring together green-minded students from secondary schools across the county for discussions, workshops, networking and mutual-learning about all things climate change and tackling the climate emergency in Suffolk.
Following the day, the plan is to turn student contributions into a ‘Suffolk Youth Climate Ask’ (official title pending) which will be made publicly available and posed to influential bodies in the region, including the Suffolk Climate Change, Energy and Environment Board. It will represent the voice of Suffolk youth, and declare calls to action for organisations and governing bodies across the county.
We anticipate this will become an annual event. We hope to encourage as much attendance from green-minded students as possible, as we’d really like to help them channel their enthusiasm for environmental issues and provide them with the tools to make an impact. As much as we as a team are working to make Suffolk a greener, healthier place to live, we would also like to provide an opportunity for young voices to be heard on matters that will affect their future.
The full programme will be announced in due course.
