Eco-Schools is an international award programme that provides schools recognition and a framework to help make sustainability a focal point of school life. Eco-Schools status is viewed upon very positively by HMI Ofsted, particularly in relation to PSHE and the role of ‘Citizenship’. More than anything though, students find it fun and very inspiring!

There are three award levels within the Eco-Schools programme:

Joining the Eco-Schools programme is easy for all schools and makes engaging with sustainable issues much simpler. To start the ball rolling, go to the ‘Get Involved’ pages on the Eco-Schools website.  Once registered, schools follow a simple seven-step process which helps them to tackle a variety of environmental issues.

With around 52,000 registered Eco-Schools globally, all following the same Seven Step framework to Green Flag there are countless examples of amazing ideas and projects out there.
