This year’s Christmas project is about giving a promise or favour to a loved one that won’t cost the earth.

A promise of time or offer of help can make the most thoughtful and meaningful gift and is bound to make the lucky person receiving it very happy! It’s a great waste-free gift that is good for the environment too. It doesn’t cost any money and won’t use any of the earth’s precious resources either.

There are lots of things you could promise, such as helping to walk the dog, cleaning out your guinea pig or promising to read to your granny when you go to stay – we’ve got a whole list of ideas for promises here.

Feel free to be as creative as you want – you can go it alone with your own great designs or use some of the templates and ideas below to help you get started:

  • Simple templates – all you need to do is stick them to recycled card, colour them in and write your promise.  (link to templates pdf)
  • Examples of collaged promises to give you some ideas – made from old cereal boxes and  recycled paper and ribbon – but you can use any recycled materials you like!

We’d love you to send us a photo or two of your promise and we promise to share them on our social media accounts.

Send them to waste.management@suffolk.gov.uk

or via @suffolkrecycles on TwitterFacebook or Instagram.

Good luck and have fun!
